The NDIS rules have changed this year. BellaAssist is helping families make sure their evidence meets the standard.

On 27 August, the rules for asking for an NDIS plan reassessment changed. Participants now need evidence of a significant and ongoing change, and only participants, nominees, or guardians can request one – support coordinators no longer can. We’re hearing from NDIS participants and families that keeping up with the rule changes can feel like a job on its own, and they’re looking for help.

That’s why we built BellaAssist. It’s an online evidence tool that helps make sure that your NDIS reports are as strong as they can be, and it always stays up to date with NDIS changes. It reads all your documents, spots anything that might be missing or inconsistent, and even helps you draft letters to your providers to ask for changes.

We tested BellaAssist with NDIS participants, parents, and support coordinators. Here is some of what they said:

“I think the most valuable part is the time. It cuts out so much time.”

Leanne is a participant and a parent. When she tested BellaAssist, she talked about the load it took off her, saying it gives her back “the mental capacity and the time that I would need to allocate to unpack and understand and process all this.”

BellaAssist reads your whole file in moments and checks every report against the latest NDIS requirements. That’s time back for everything else in your week.

“We try to fix the things that we can think of, but we can’t fix what we don’t know about.”

Narelle is a parent and carer. She told us how nervous it makes her to have to check her child’s reports by herself. A missing detail or an out-of-date assessment can put funding at risk, and you can’t fix a gap you can’t see.

BellaAssist shows you what’s strong and what’s missing in every report in a simple, easy-to-read way. If a report could be stronger, it can help you draft an email to the provider who wrote it, explaining what’s needed and why.

“A lot of times the reports do not align… And this can cause problems at reassessment.”

Tracey is a support coordinator. She told us this becomes a big problem going into plan reassessments, when each report recommends something different. When your story is spread across years of reports written by different people, those reports don’t always agree.

BellaAssist checks your reports against one another and flags where they disagree or where unclear wording could cause problems with your funding. It also highlights differences between older and newer reports that may show changes in your functional capacity over time.
