Last week, our Head of Events, Kathryn Carey had t Last week, our Head of Events, Kathryn Carey had the pleasure of spending time with the amazing Kerry-Lee Gockel. Interviewing her for the opening ceremony, we got to see her warmth and authenticity.

Kerry-Lee engaged the audience from the very first moment and it’s clear she had many fans. Her ability to communicate powerful messages in such a simple and relatable way was truly impressive. Kerri-Lee spoke with ease, honesty, and with a down-to-earth sensibility.

Kerry-Lee does life her own way, and she is squeezing every drop out of it. In 2022, she completed the 10km Island Charity Swim on the Sunshine Coast, and in 2025, she pushed her limits even further with a 20.4km tandem solo swim around Wop-pa (Great Keppel Island), finishing in just over six hours.

Our key takeaway? When you think you can't - you probably can.
