Stepping Up to Cerebral Palsy

ONCALL - Brenton

In everything we do, ONCALL believes in improving the lives of the most vulnerable in our communities. That is our motto. Empowering our clients to achieve their goals is just one of the ways we do that.

Brenton’s story

Brenton’s story is a great example of how we empower our clients at ONCALL. He lives in supported accommodation and is supported by a dedicated ONCALL staffing team. A few months ago, Brenton told us that he wanted to take part in Steptember, a fundraising initiative that challenges people to take 10,000 steps a day for 28 days for the fight against Cerebral palsy. Brenton has a long history of raising funds for good causes, but is particularly proud of raising funds for Cerebral palsy, as Brenton himself has been diagnosed with the disorder.

The challenge

The ONCALL team supported Brenton to achieve his goal by helping him to work on a strategy. Together they developed a training regime, set some targets and prepared for Steptember. Brenton set the target of raising $500. He started his training before stepping it up throughout Steptember.

Brenton loved taking part in the challenge and said it helped with his fitness and strength. Aside from the funds he raised, the challenge had some additional benefits. Brenton found that the exercise helped him think happy thoughts and cleared his mind of the bad ones. He also lost 10kg in weight during the challenge!

By the end of Steptember Brenton had smashed his goal, raising over $3,100!

This is such a great achievement. To put this in context, the average amount raised by participants during Steptember was $150. Brenton raised more than 20 times the average.

ONCALL’s support

We are so proud of Brenton and are delighted to have played a part in helping him reach this amazing achievement. ONCALL started because its founders believed in improving the lives of the most vulnerable in the community.

The ONCALL story began more than 40 years ago with two people who were passionate about helping to change the lives of those who needed it most. Years of working in the disability sector motivated them to create ONCALL, providing the highest quality, specialist care. We are now a market leader.

Market leading service

ONCALL has over 1,500 employees working in more than 400 sites across metropolitan Melbourne. This makes us a market leader. Our specialised teams focus on staffing solutions and a full suite of NDIS services and accommodation services. We also deliver market-leading disability and child, youth and family support.
